Living Through Pain : How He Did It

Hope : An Invaluable Force

"When I got to the hospital that day, I looked at the baby, asleep beside my wife who was diagnosed with leukemia. I had to make a choice... be there for my family or go away mourning a living person because I fear what is coming. It was then a ray light of hope struck my soul.

I'm not the type that pray much, but then I realized I have to try. What kept me going at that moment, was hope. Maybe she will not recover, but she could live long enough for our baby and I.

Hope is a powerful force and one of the most potent force in the universe.

Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one's life or the world at large.

There are three main things that make up hopeful thinking:
  • Goals – Approaching life in a goal-oriented way.
  • Pathways – Finding different ways to achieve your goals.
  • Agency – Believing that you can instigate change and achieve these goals.

Hope, and more specifically, particularized hope, has been shown to be an important part of the recovery process from illness; it has strong psychological benefits for patients, helping them to cope more effectively with their disease.

It doesn't matter where you are or what you maybe going through right now, please understand this; Hope is an invaluable force.

Never give up. Never never never give up.
